When Shelly first arrived at Million Dollar Fitness, she was juggling a demanding career as a primary school teacher and a busy social diary.

Although she loved her job and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her lifestyle was impacting on her passion for life. Shelly’s outward appearance was fun and girlie, but underneath was a very different story.

“Despite a busy social life, I was not happy. I had low self-confidence and I was oblivious to what toll my lifestyle might be taking on my body and health.”

Fast forward to the present and the 28 year old is bubbly and determined to “make it happen” every day. The transformation came as a surprise to Shelly, who’d always believed she couldn’t exercise because she suffers from asthma.

“A friend was already a member of Million Dollar so I joined with another friend for company. Dee was very friendly, approachable, had a good sense of humour and was realistic about achievable goals.”

Shelly began her fitness journey with me on my 4 Week Programme.

“Since joining Million Dollar I have lost weight and toned, meaning I am able to buy the clothes I always wanted to wear but didn’t feel able too.

My diet has changed and I have learnt the importance of healthy eating and I appreciate good food. I still have chocolate as a treat and enjoy eating out but I have found a balance.

My self-confidence has increased, I’m happier and I have also made lifelong friends along the way.”

“I have increased self-discipline and prioritise to ensure that I do not slip back into unhealthy habits. I wake early, and have a hot water with lemon before the 6.15am class at Million Dollar. I usually attend classes in the morning, shower and then go to work. During the working week I will usually eat 2-3 meals and 2 snacks. My lunches are homemade soups with the addition of some protein and I will have snacks such as peanut butter and apple or some chocolate occasionally.

I have not given up anything but I have adapted my life, I make better use of free time and I do not deprive myself of the occasional treat.”

“My highlight and biggest achievement to date at Million Dollar was taking part in Tough Mudder, which is an 18-20km obstacle course. I never believed that I would have been able to do it but I embraced the training and swapped nights out for Sunday mornings training at Lisfannon beach. I felt in the best shape of my life and it was an amazing personal achievement competing in and completing Tough Mudder with Team Million Dollar.

As a result, my fitness has increased and I have taken part in some other fun runs, the Colour Run and the Foyle Hospice 5km run with friends. These are all events which I believed I could not do prior to joining Million Dollar.”

“My mummy provides me with amazing support in preparing meals for me and I have great support from work colleagues, Dee and all of the other Million Dollar members.”

“I love shopping, meeting friends for a cup of tea, socialising, eating out, spending time with family and going for walks. My love of clothes helps motivate me to continue with my fitness and nutritional goals.”

“My confidence has been boosted and I have forged lifetime friendships. Million Dollar is my one and only gym experience and I would recommend Dee and Million Dollar Fitness as the best investment in your health that you can make.

Give yourself a chance!”
